Happy June!  This was taken in June a couple of years ago during one of the biggest run-off years.  Certainly not this year, as it’s been relatively dry.  But in this year the water flow was incredible!  Yosemite National Park is such an incredible place to be in any circumstance and if you’ve never been there it’s a must go place.  John Muir and Ansel Adams knew what they were doing when they chose to spend so much time there.  Anyway, I was wandering around the park just taking in the beauty when I ended up here; the infamous place where Ansel Adams took his famous shot, Tunnel View.  The conditions are always changing and the days I was here were gorgeous!

It was an early Sunday morning and for some reason most people in the park seemed content to not be wandering about.  Maybe they were breaking down their camp or sipping morning coffee or just getting ready to head back to city life.  Whatever the case, it seemed as if all of Yosemite was mine and a few other photographer types enjoying the immense beauty of this spectacular valley.  This particular year the mountains were overflowing with snow-pack and the runoff into rivers and waterfalls was the highest in quite some time.  There are but few words to describe this place called Yosemite.  With the wildly flowing rivers and falls, awesome is one of them.

I love Yosemite.  If you’ve never been, just go.  One mid winters day I got up well before sunrise and drove the 5 hours to the park for a quick overnight and a hike or two.  I’d never been up the Four Mile Trail so that was as good a reason as any to see how far up I could get until running into snow and having to turn back.  Actually, I got almost all the way up to Glacier point before the snow said to stop.  Slowly winding my way back down I stopped to take some time to simply gaze out at El Cap and the beautiful Yosemite Valley down below.  And then the sun came out from behind the cloud bank!  A remarkable place Yosemite is.

This little chapel in Yosemite Valley really lit up an otherwise socked-in foggy damp day.  It had snowed quite wonderfully at the higher elevations the day before but here in the valley it was threatening rain.  I really love these quaintly small and homey chapels.  It’s not about large congregations of people and elaborate services.  There’s just enough room for a few hearty or curious souls to wander in in reverence.
