I’d never been down to St. Augustine so as long as I was in Savannah and so close, I went.  As always, it was fun exploring this part of the world.  Luckily for me it was a bit stormy while there.  The storm seemed to hang just west of the city but I saw this rain squall just as I was checking out the bridge of lions that spans the bay.

Well, formerly.  It’s now the Leightner Museum of St. Augustine, Florida and a great piece of old Spanish renaissance style architecture.  It was built in the 1880’s by the architects Carrere and Hastings, the same two who designed the NY public library and US senate office building.  In this image I mostly liked the way the clouds and weather were beginning to move in.  I love it when the weather gets a bit crazy.

When I first spotted this chapel on the grounds of a mission in St. Augustine, Florida I was captivated.  The greenery being allowed to grow all over the building makes me feel at home.  At first I just thought it a curiosity, another shrine to look at.  But, the longer I was there the more people entered, sat in reverence, prayed, meditated.  Our lady of le leche is a shrine to the Mother nursing her babe.  It’s alluring and a wonderful place to sit in.
