Happy June!  This was taken in June a couple of years ago during one of the biggest run-off years.  Certainly not this year, as it’s been relatively dry.  But in this year the water flow was incredible!  Yosemite National Park is such an incredible place to be in any circumstance and if you’ve never been there it’s a must go place.  John Muir and Ansel Adams knew what they were doing when they chose to spend so much time there.  Anyway, I was wandering around the park just taking in the beauty when I ended up here; the infamous place where Ansel Adams took his famous shot, Tunnel View.  The conditions are always changing and the days I was here were gorgeous!

I was up by 5:00 AM and drove the 4 plus hours up to Yosemite.  I checked in at Curry Camp, my tent cabin for a couple of nights, then drove the short distance out the the trail head for my hike up Four Mile Trail that heads up to Glacier point.  There wasn’t any snow this mid winter day on the valley floor, but the further up I hiked the more snow there was.  Little did I know then, but this was the last of the sunny days for a while.  The next day was totally socked in with rain in the valley and heavy snow up on top.  Sure glad I got up here first as there’s nothing like the unencumbered view of Yosemite valley.

Yosemite is the most visited National Park of them all.  If you’ve ever been there it’s not hard to see why.  It’s so spectacular it’s hard to imagine and any photograph is hard pressed to convey its majesty.  If you haven’t been there, it’s one of those places to put on your list of places to go out of your way to get there.  This photo was taken from the roadside viewing area before heading into the Hwy 41 tunnel, probably not far from where Ansel Adams took his infamous “Clearing Winter Storm” shot.
