grave markers

I love cemetery’s.  Is that morbid?  I just find them so interesting.  I find myself wandering around looking at the markers, wondering about the lives of the deceased.  Who are you?  What kind of life did you have in a time I probably didn’t experience.  And cemeteries in the south are so unique and, pardon the expression, alive.  Lafayette no. 1 is nestled in the garden district of New Orleans.  A wonderful neighborhood to wander around in.

So many grave stones.  So many lives.  Are they known?  Remembered?  Visited by loved ones?  Or did they simply give their lives for their country and then we all move on?  Hard to know.  All us visitors go there to take in the ambiance and history.  Maybe do some imagining.  What’s it like to be buried at Arlington?  Heck, what’s it like to be buried at all?  Guess we’ll all find out soon enough.
