Don’t you just wonder where they’re going?  I do.  We slowed down a bit for us to say hi but not long enough to have a conversation.  Do they have animal feed?  Some sort of material for housing or a roof?  Is it just compost or garbage hacked away to make space for growing something else?  Whatever it’s for, they sure live a different and more timeless life than I do.  Hard in its own way, but rather nostalgic in one of my more contemplative moods.

It’s fall again!  I love this time of year.  Much of the time it’s very soft, especially compared to the height of summer and its intensity.  The light is softer, the darkness of day slowly fading, the colors in nature turning inward, readying itself for winters slumber.  It’s also a great time to be in the mountains, where scenes like this abound.

My sisters and I were exploring the affluence of Hilton Head Island in South Carolina and putting our toes in the Atlantic.  For me this gets a bit mundane.  I want to hike/walk and explore the topography.  So, we drove toward the mainland, crossed a bridge and stopped on Pinckney Island, lying between Hilton Head and the mainland.  Hey!  It’s a wildlife refuge!  There are trails to walk.  I was happy.
