The mouth of the Nooksack river and the Lummi Indians of NW Washington are pretty much tied at the hip.  Salmon run up the river on their way to spawn and the Lummi’s stretch their nets along the mouth, both for food and commerce.   Here, it’s a crisp, cold fall day as the fishermen work at untangling their net.  It’s beautiful in the north Puget Sound.  The native fishery is a big part of it.

After spending much of the day exploring Hilton Head Island, we settled in for a nice meal at one of the local restaurants.  I don’t remember what I had, but I’m pretty sure I ordered some kind of seafood.  Just so happens I spotted these fishing boats tied up at one the docks.  So, I wandered outside and positioned myself at an angle directly into the sun.  With the sun rapidly setting, the color of the sky was increasing.  It was just another beautiful day in the south.
