I love the color and character of the older docks, holding their sea warn buildings out of the salt water.  Walking the shore trail in Monterey provides a lot of an older ocean front scene.  It’s easy to find beauty to frame inside a viewfinder.  Just walk, look and dream.

Heading into town on a full moon night.  What a shame.  But, the family was hungry and since I was too I chose to nix my plans to head out of town a ways to capture full moon images.  Well, the moon was going in and out from behind the clouds and from our parking lot was right next to the bank building, so, I grabbed the tripod and snapped a few times.  Saved me from waiting for our table and I still got to eat well.  Great tradeoff.

The Colorado state senate that is.  Located in the state capitol building in Denver, this is quite a building.  Relatively small in size it’s easy to navigate and explore.  Not many people around.   Must have been during a political break.  Sometimes it seems like most politicians are on a continuous political break.  Good thing the building’s still there to marvel at.

Walking through the U of Texas campus one evening I spied what I thought was an unusual view of the capital building.  And it also included the top of Austin’s other architectural icon, the Frost Bank building.  I love just walking where my feet take me with camera by my side.

It’s fun walking around a big city during the Christmas holidays.  The bustling people, the decorations, the festivities.  If you actually have to get something done it may be a different story, but just to be there and be a part of everything, basking in the warmth of the season, is what it’s all about.

Nothing like the south for an old west coast boy.  I love old and the south is so much older.  Walking along River St. with its old buildings and their new shops is an evenings entertainment.  But, in order to get some perspective I crossed the bridge and went over to Hutchinson Island where I could see the frontage landscape.  It’s a charming part of town.

Speaking of high in the mountains, Bodie, or what remains of it, is quite high.  Over 8000 feet high.  I love old things, and old buildings are right at the top of the list.  I can imagine people bustling into these buildings to gather supplies for the cold winter; or coming in after the snows melt to get the spring planting needs that would provide much food for the next winter.  But what about the truck?  Guess that came in a few years later.

San Francisco is known for its fog and this morning was no different.  I had been out shooting some night shots and wasn’t ready to head home so I just kept driving around, looking for more; more scenes, more views, more angles.  Sometimes I just can’t stop myself and this was one of those days.  As the daylight increased, so did the fog and I was getting frustrated.  After all, I was making an effort to be out, why couldn’t I see?  Patience, just a little patience.  And then, the fog started lifting.

New Orleans is a great place to wander around and just take in the atmosphere.  It was late and I was quite tired, but still had enough energy to keep wandering and enjoy what I was doing.  Not trying to get somewhere is always the best way to go for me.  I was on my way to my bed but not hurrying.  I turned up Iberville St. toward Bourdon and this simple scene with its signage popped out at me.  I was sweaty but happy.

I arose early to catch the early morning light.  Meandering down by the river, or lake, I fought my way down to an open spot right next to the water, set up the tripod and fired away.  Generally I don’t like getting up so early, but I sure do like the soft morning light.  And being February, the light was especially soft.
