It was a rather gloomy evening.  In a trip down the west coast, I stopped here in sleepy Crescent City in order to be in the redwoods during the light the next day.  I wanted to get out and roam around the town, but it was just so foggy and cold.  Mid summer too.  So, I went out to a waterfront park and spied this remote looking peninsula and its funky lighthouse structure.  I don’t even know if a wayward ship could even have spotted it and its warning.  No matter, for this landlubber at least, it makes for a great photo subject.

My mom was born here in Savannah.  Beautiful city now.  I wonder what it was like back when her parents up and left, ending up in the complete opposite end of the country, NW Washington state.  My two sisters and I visited here and met many of our long lost cousins who were unknown to us before then.  All were welcoming, friendly, showing off that infamous southern charm.  We stayed in the old historic district down on Bay Street; everything within walking distance, easy to explore the beauty of the city.  I look forward to going back for more of that low country boil.savannah-river-cityscape-2-1

As in ‘Make your check out to…’.  I’m almost embarrassed to even show an image of their headquarters, but the building itself is different than the laws and concepts of taxes and the treasury.  DC is so full of solid, stately architecture.  It’s fun wandering around, bumping into various governmental icons.  I wish they’d give me some of my money back.
