Oregon Coast

Feb 172013

I just got back from Oregon.  Didn’t have the opportunity to make as many images as I usually do, but at other times I have.  The whole coast is an incredible place to explore.  Seems like every few miles is a state park.  Lots of little towns and beaches and rivers running to the sea and bridges and jetties and sand dunes and haystack rocks rising out of the Pacific Ocean.  The beauty is endless.  This particular beach is in the south between Coos Bay and Brookings.  A great place to stop and stroll; especially when the tide’s out, like this, and you can get out a ways and take in the sea breeze, ocean and sand.

If you know where this bridge leads to please speak up.  I’m sure it goes somewhere, but where.

Coastal Oregon along Hwy. 101 is not all about the pacific ocean.  On the eastern side of the road is just as interesting and scenic.  Although you may have to take a little side road for a mile or so.  But, it’s always well worth it as much of the coastline is filled with interesting lakes and rivers and bridges.  This one is between Florence and Coos Bay.

The Oregon coast is one of those iconic drives/areas that I’ve had the good fortune of meandering along a number of times.  Whether it’s camping, swimming, playing, golfing or just driving along it has never been boring.  Now, mind you, you can’t be in a hurry, just wanting to get somewhere.  I-5 is for that.  So, I took the plunge again last summer and drove most of its length from north to south.  Offering a number of lighthouses, Heceta Head is my favorite.
