Winter is my favorite time to be at the ocean.  The light, the storms, the quiet beaches bring out the best conditions for photography.  The summer warmth is nice but give me the contrasting muted tones of winter and I’m a happy man.

There was no snow upon arrival at South Lake Tahoe.  24 hours later there was a foot of new powder.  That’s life in the mountains.  What a wonderful time to be there in all its winter glory.  After coming back down from the Heavenly ski slopes I had a chance to wander around a bit.

Heading into town on a full moon night.  What a shame.  But, the family was hungry and since I was too I chose to nix my plans to head out of town a ways to capture full moon images.  Well, the moon was going in and out from behind the clouds and from our parking lot was right next to the bank building, so, I grabbed the tripod and snapped a few times.  Saved me from waiting for our table and I still got to eat well.  Great tradeoff.

Who says there’s nothing to do in the winter.  There are plenty of ducks on the pond.  And I’ll bet they’ll get out of the water to greet you if you bring plenty of food for a picnic.

It’s a new year.  The road is clear but there’s a bend we can’t see beyond.  How do we navigate the road ahead that is already moving swiftly?  Where are we going?  Where do we want to wind up?  So many questions.  I can see some of the general landscape in the distance but the details are unknown and just a bit mysterious.  It’s up to me to drive my life forward.  Where am I going?  Where are you going?
