In the mornings, just after sunrise, we’d quietly dress and get ourselves onto the open air jeep. Then off into the African bush to track the white lions of Timbavati. The preserve we were staying at was deep into helping these rare animals survive on their own in the wild so we would roam the bush with our radio tracking devices tuned to their collars, making sure they were still safe. There are currently only 9 white lions roaming in the wild and at camp unicorn we were able to track 7 of them. It was winter there, just coming into spring. Spacious. Quiet. Beautiful. They’re out there.
